(Finance) – Thefemale employment represents a positive signal and a crucial opportunity for the social and economic progress of the country, according to the Minister of Labor, Marina Elvira Calderone. In a video message to Italia Direzione Nord, underway in Milan, the minister invited us to consider these results not with triumphalism, but as a basis for further progress on gender equality, female empowerment, reduction of the wage gap and work-life balance . The latter, he underlined, does not only concern women but too often represents a decisive barrier for them.
The minister highlighted that increasing female employment is a social justice objective, underlining how the data shows stable growth even among young people under 34 and women. However, the gender gap in Italy remains significant and it must be addressed, especially in light of demographic and digital challenges.
For the minister, “increasing female participation in work in terms of quantity and quality means give the country a chance for unprecedented economic growthbut above all it is an imperative of social justice”. Women’s work, she said, “is an investment that pays off in terms of progress and collective well-being; it is the hidden energy that can transform the economy and society.”
The task “of the executive, in particular of the minister of labour, is also that of support and promote a paradigm shift through government actions and responsible legislative choices“. The future “requires advanced skills and women must have full access to the most innovative sectors, to STEM professions. We can no longer accept that due to cultural encrustations, delays in the system and often discriminatory exclusions, strategic professional opportunities remain excluded”.
