Cainsville community center fundraising campaign nears goal

Brant Mayor David Bailey is encouraging residents, businesses and service groups to give what they can to support the Cainsville community center fundraising campaign.

“We have raised $1.25 million of the $1.5-million goal in only a few short months,” Bailey said in a statement released Monday. “The community is beyond generous and we’re ready to drive this campaign home.

“Whether you can give $20, $200, $2,000 or more, we appreciate your gift.”

Donations of $20 or more are eligible to receive a tax or business receipt and will be acknowledged on a donor wall in the main lobby of the community centre. To learn how you can donate, visit www.brant.ca/Cainsville.

“This project has been community-driven,” Bailey said. “The community asked for a new place to gather where they could hold their parties, come together for recreation and be part of a support group.

“This center will be absolutely beautiful and functional, and I know will host many memorable events.”

Able to accommodate up to 350 people, the new center will be much larger than the hall it will replace. The design will reflect the natural environment and include many sustainable design features.

Since the construction was announced, bookings have been coming in for 2023.

“The demand and need are there,” said Bailey. “We know we are better together and, when we come together, we can make anything happen.”

The new building will be named the TF Warren Group Cainsville Community Center to recognize more than $500,000 in donations to the project.

The local company operates in 15 countries and employs 1,000 people.

The company’s CEO, Terry Warren, started his first company in 1971. The Warren Group was formed to consolidate the operations of Blastech, Brant Corrosion Control and Brant Industrial Roll.

The community center is at 15 Ewart Ave. and will be about 9,200 square feet. It will include a transformable community hall, meeting room, lobby and an outdoor covered patio.

As well, the center will use solar power, have energy-efficient fixtures and electric vehicle charging stations.
