Throughout Wednesday and well into Thursday, there was snow chaos on E22. Hundreds of cars were stuck in the snow and some were stuck in their cars for almost a day without supplies.

The reason was that there was a heavy snowfall in parts of north-eastern Scania, which caused difficult road conditions.

Hundreds of cars were stuck on the E22

The difficult road conditions meant that over 300 cars and also police cars got stuck on the E22 and stood still there for several hours.

In the end, the armed forces had to move out with tracked vehicles to evacuate people from their cars and they also cut up the middle railings, so that people would have the opportunity to turn around.

Even during Thursday, there are difficult road conditions in several places in Skåne and the police urge people not to go out on the roads unless they absolutely have to.

Confectionery in Hörby donated buns to motorists

Along the E22 is the patisserie and shop Tahiti Condis in Hörby.

When they found out how serious the situation was and that people had been evacuated from their cars, they wanted to help.

They therefore closed earlier, to be able to contribute baked goods to the rescue service and the Home Guard who toiled to get people off the road. They also gave away pastries and bread to the affected motorists.

– We chose to close the store and instead donate our bread, buns, wheat bread and vienna bread to the rescue service, the home guard and the evacuees who were taken to a liaison center in Hörby, says Lottery who works at the cafe for News24.

The employees felt that they wanted to be able to contribute in the crisis situation in some way and do something good for others.

– We talked at work about how we could help in this crisis situation. We contacted the emergency services, who collected everything we had baked for today’s sale. It feels like we have worked for a good cause, says Lotten to Nyheter24.
