Affected beneficiaries have been notified of the upcoming cut.
Be careful, the bad news could surprise more than one French person. Every month, around 12 million of them receive, directly into their bank account, additional income paid by the Family Allowance Fund. Valuable financial aid, especially for the most deprived, which allows you to make ends meet.
But it is well known that to receive these benefits, you have to fill out a whole bunch of paperwork. On the other hand, to have them cut, the CAF does not wait for you to have completed any form: it takes care of it itself, automatically.
Many beneficiaries will experience this in the days to come since the payment of personalized housing assistance (APL) will be suspended for 800,000 French people. The Caf will not take them for granted: an email announcing the closing of this financial tap was sent to all those concerned at the beginning of June. On August 5, the 200 euros monthly (average amount according to Caf figures) will not arrive in everyone’s bank account.
Most beneficiaries can rest assured, it is students who are affected by this automatic suspension. 791,000 of them receive housing assistance, according to a parliamentary report from December 2021. In order to avoid paying money for nothing in the summer, the CAF automatically suspends the payment of APL, ALS and ALF when the aid is intended for a young person who is studying. The reason is simple: it is a question of not distributing money for nothing during these two months because, often, the student gives up his accommodation at the end of June, once the academic year is over.
As the APL is paid with a one-month delay, the transfer of July 5 will arrive at everyone’s house, to help pay the June rent. This will not be the case for those of August 5 (for the July rent) and September 5 (for the August rent). If you keep your accommodation during the summer, you must take steps again with the Caf indicating, before the end of July, that you are keeping your accommodation throughout the summer.
