PROVINCE OF UTRECHT – The cabinet has agreed to far-reaching relaxation of the corona measures, Minister Kuipers (Public Health) announced this evening during a press conference.
On February 25, the corona ticket will largely disappear. At large indoor events, testing still has to be done. No test is required for outdoor events.
The catering and cultural sector can open again on Friday until 01:00. The fixed seat is no longer necessary here and mouth caps are no longer necessary. In addition, the homework advice has been adjusted. The advice is to work from home if possible, and those who nevertheless have to go to their workplace no more than half the time. The announced relaxation of home working advice will take effect immediately. The advice to receive only four people a day at home will also disappear immediately.
Traveling abroad is also becoming easier. From Wednesday, the travel advice of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will also be adjusted. Then corona figures no longer count. It means that more countries outside of Europe will go yellow. People who travel to the Netherlands from a so-called very high-risk area no longer need to be quarantined from 25 February.
The rules for mandatory isolation after a positive test are also being relaxed. Someone infected with the corona virus does not have to stay at home for seven, but only five more days. This person must then be free of complaints for at least 24 hours to be allowed to leave the house again.
1G policy only applies to major events indoors
Keeping your distance will no longer be necessary from February 25 and the closing times will be released. The mask obligation will disappear, except for public transport and the plane. Testing (the so-called 1G policy) will apply to large events with more than five hundred visitors. That means nightclubs that admit fewer people don’t have to test.
Although most of the rules will disappear next week, carnival will have to be celebrated indoors. Carnival is from February 26 to March 1. The mayors in the Security Council also indicated on Monday that it should be celebrated on a small scale: in bars and on terraces. There will be no major events such as parades.
Corona minister Ernst Kuipers announced the relaxation this evening. It is the first press conference on corona without the prime minister. At that time, he was in the Senate for the government statement.
March 15 new weigh-in
On 15 March, the cabinet will take another look at a number of corona measures that will not expire this month. It concerns the mandatory wearing of face masks on the train, bus and tram and the advice to work from home up to half of the time.
The rule that proof of a negative test must be provided for indoor events with more than five hundred visitors will also be reconsidered. All adjusted measures can be read on the link below:
