Thand Ringqvist believes that one reason why what she describes as “the traditionally bourgeois parties” only received roughly a third of the voters’ votes is that economic liberalism and freedom of choice have been emphasized one-sidedly, while liberal values such as security and equality have not been prioritized as much.
In order for support for bourgeois politics to be rebuilt, “a willingness to reconsider what has become a sticking point during many years of one-sided ideological debate” is also needed, writes Thand Ringqvist.
She specifically formulates three points to be addressed, which are about social insurance, functioning welfare services and a “really strengthened civil society”.
