To the premises in Värmbol, the municipality’s various administrations and departments can send furniture and things that will no longer be used. After renovation, it will then be useful in other municipal activities.
The items that are renovated are cataloged and photographed and then posted on a website so that it will be easy for the municipality’s various businesses to find and borrow. Bytestorget also takes care of collecting old things and handing over things that are being renovated.
– I usually say that it is like a library, but with furniture, says Thomas Lindholm.
Growing participants
Viadidakt’s labor market unit is behind the exchange square itself. People who are far from working life get a chance for meaningful employment while developing their skills and growing as people.
– Since I started here in 2019, about 60-70 people have come in here and then gone on to study or something else. Seeing them grow is something that provides nourishment to endure more, says Thomas Lindholm.
Doubling of lending
It is difficult to know how much money Katrineholm’s municipality saves by reusing, says Thomas Lindholm, because he does not have access to the various price data for each individual object that is renovated.
– But if we look at lending, it has doubled compared to last year, he says.
