BYD Destroyer 07, which was introduced as part of the Shanghai Auto Show, can raise the range standards of rechargeable hybrids to the next level.
BYD, whose name we have started to hear more frequently in recent years among Chinese manufacturers, was among the important participants of the Shanghai Auto Show. Welcoming the participants with a very rich podium, the manufacturer announced the new brands positioned under its own roof for the first time within the scope of the organization. Among the announcements made by BYD, which will enter the Turkish market after Europe this year, we see that the Destroyer 07 clearly stands out, together with the accessible electric model Seagull. The sedan model, which is expected to be sold under the name “Chaser 07” in global markets, will make a difference with its 200-kilometer range claim over its rechargeable hybrid infrastructure. The Toyota front also shared its goal of increasing the electric range of hybrid models to 200 kilometers in the past few days.
First details shared for BYD Destroyer 07 / Chaser 07
BYD’s official channels did not neglect to share some technical data regarding the product range, which also draws attention with its design that creates a premium atmosphere. 4,980 millimeters length, 1,890 millimeters width, 1,495 millimeters height and 2,900 millimeters wheelbase values are among the ones we encounter at this point. This means that we will see a sedan that surpasses the VW Passat in terms of dimensions. The engine side of BYD Destroyer 07 is undoubtedly the most curious component.

In the product range, where a 1.5-liter turbo petrol unit will be positioned on the internal combustion side, versions varying according to battery capacities will be offered. While the pure electric range of 121 kilometers is aimed at the entry level, the top package claims a range of 200 kilometers in NEDC standards. The most curious side here is how much this range value will be lost in WLTP standards. The starting price for the range, which is expected to go on sale in China by the third quarter of this year, will be $29,000. For the top packages, the figure is expected to stretch up to $36,500.
