We’ve been waiting for John Wick: Chapter 4 for a long time. The sequel with Keanu Reeves has finally been in German cinemas since Thursday. In 169 epic minutes, director Chad Stahelski unleashes an inferno of action that shakes the big screen before the film takes an unexpected turn in the final minutes.

After three bloody revenge campaigns and countless empty magazines, it seemed as if John Wick was immortal. Even if the taciturn assassin hobbled off the battlefield in the past, we could assume that he’d be back on the mat and giving his all for the next installment.
Shock ending with Keanu Reeves: Will John Wick die in Part 4?
John Wick: Chapter 4 ends in a fateful duel in which Reeves’ killer takes a bullet and dies on the steps of Sacré-Cœur. Yes, John Wick is dying. What makes the scene particularly bitter: Shortly before, he managed to be acquitted of all the duties he has towards the Upper Chamber.

Character deaths are very relative in today’s franchise cinema. So is John Wick really dead? This is exactly the question we asked Chad Stahelski, who has accompanied the series as director and action architect since the first part.
His answer is rather cryptic:
Is John Wick dead? is he alive I would say, he has found his peace. It’s a cathartic experience. You want the characters to be rewarded at the end of such a journey. You want the story to have a touching ending. It feels very frustrating when you’re sitting in a movie for two and a half hours and the characters are stuck.
Judging from the end of the film, it actually looks like John Wick has died. However, if we take a step back, it’s hard to believe that he’ll never come back. After all, we’re talking about one of them here most profitable film series in Hollywood, whose expansion has only just begun.
John Wick 5 and Beyond: The action series starring Keanu Reeves is far from over
Originally, John Wick: Chapter 4 and John Wick: Chapter 5 were supposed to be shot back-to-back. The Lionsgate studio has said goodbye to this plan for the time being. Stahelski recently indicated that he wants to give John Wick a breather after the exhausting fourth part. Part 5 is far from dead.
But it will probably be some time before we find out exactly how the story continues. The post-credits scene of John Wick: Chapter 4 hints another vendetta. This time, Akira (Rina Sawayama) and Caine (Donnie Yen), who previously fought with and against John Wick, find themselves at odds.

Even if John Wick’s death is final at the end of Part 4, we’ll see Keanu Reeves in the iconic role at least one more time in Ballerina.

Halle Berry hinted in February 2022 that her Chapter 3 Sophia could be getting a spin-off that would be a discarded idea of her James Bond character Jinx picks up. In addition, screenwriter Derek Kolstad was interested in a potential crossover with Nobody in March 2021.
John Wick: Chapter 4 is running since March 23, 2023 in German cinemas. Specific release dates for The Conteintal and Ballerina have not yet been announced. Both projects are already finished.
