Busy night for firefighters three fires one injured and possibly

AMERSFOORT – The fire brigade in the province of Utrecht had to turn out in three places last night. There were residential fires in Amersfoort and Veenendaal, while a commercial building was on fire in Soest.

Someone was injured in a kitchen fire on Amersfoortse Garietstraat. The fire started around 3:30 a.m. last night. The Utrecht Safety Region (VRU) deployed several fire brigade units. They managed to get a resident out of the building, the victim was taken to hospital with unknown injuries.

It was not until early in the morning that the fire was under control. “Nothing is known about the cause”, according to the VRU, “The evacuated homes will also be checked because of the smoke.”

The fire flares up twice in Veenendaal

The fire broke out again last night at the spot where the fire service thought they had extinguished a chimney fire in the afternoon. The fire brigade had to turn out to the ‘t Voorhuis in Veenendaal around 3.15 am.

The residents were able to get out on their own and were not injured. Although the fire was quickly brought under control, a lot of smoke was released. It is unclear how extensive the damage is.

Garage in Soest burns out, possibly asbestos released

With all their might, the fire brigade in Soest tried to prevent a fire in a garage building in Soest from spreading to neighboring buildings. The building on Industrieweg eventually burned down completely, but the fire did not spread.

The fire started around 12:25 a.m. Via social media, the fire brigade advised to close windows and doors if local residents are bothered by the smoke development. During the night, the fire service got the fire under control. The cause of the fire is unknown.

The fire may have also released asbestos. The fire service is investigating whether this is the case. According to a spokesperson, the possible asbestos particles only landed in the immediate vicinity of the building.
