During the morning, Ebba Busch received questions about the electricity subsidy from SVT’s viewers. Several wondered when the electricity support will come to northern Sweden and what the support for the companies will look like. Here is a selection of the questions:
Now the support comes to electricity areas 3 and 4. When will electricity areas 1 and 2 get a share of the cake?
– The first support is coming now and in the coming weeks. We have not set an exact date for electricity support 2, which will reach the whole country. We will come back with a date, but we are working to make it happen now in the spring.
Why should the payments be confidential?
– The way I see it, if the state is going to extract information about people that you never approved to be handed over, you must have very strong reasons to do so. When people signed their electricity contracts, they did not agree to hand out that information, and now we would take that freedom afterwards. It’s a difficult trade-off but I think we’ve landed right here.
When will the electricity subsidy for companies be paid out?
– Now the companies are involved in different rounds. The first support will go to electricity-intensive companies and from March 6, companies will be able to apply for support if they are an electricity-intensive company.
– This is not actually legal to do, it is a crisis intervention regulation from the EU that makes it possible and it is very complicated. It’s a square arrangement which if you want to be straight is not great, it becomes square and it doesn’t come out quite fair as you would like, says Ebba Busch.
