The bus on line 33 was half-full with around 25 passengers, many of them schoolchildren, when it came extremely close to being rammed by a train on Thursday morning. For an as yet unknown reason, the bus did not stop even though the railway barriers were coming down.
Adrian Mellander and his little brother Alwin were on the bus when it happened.
– We were just sitting and chilling when suddenly there was a crack in the side of the bus and a window broke. It had been hit by one of the booms, says Adrian.
The driver has been taken out of service
Tomas Byberg, CEO of the company Byberg & Nordin, which runs the line in question, says that the driver was immediately taken out of service after the incident.
An initial conversation has been held with the driver, and an investigation has been launched to find out the cause of the serious incident.
– I don’t want to speculate on the cause yet, but there is no information about slippery road conditions or that the barriers did not work as they should, he tells SVT.
