It was on Monday of last week when students at Torpskolan in Lerum outside Gothenburg had lunch in the dining hall that some of them ingested the famous Carolina reaper chili, known as the world’s strongest chili fruit. Soon, information that the chili was hidden in a puddle in the forehead of a group of schoolchildren spread like a bus line, something that Lerum’s newspaper was the first to report on.
But the bus line went wrong. Several students began to vomit because of the extreme heat in the chili. Someone didn’t even make it to the toilet and vomited in the middle of the school corridor – and one student had to be sent home after experiencing shortness of breath. However, the principal of the junior high school, Carolina Lundblad, has denied that the chili would have been hidden in the school food, according to information to The evening paper. And it wasn’t long after that that Janne Olsson, who is a school host at Torpskolan, came rushing into the shop, says Fredrik Lindqvist. The school principal explained how the situation was and what happened at the school.
– Then I felt that we had to stop it at once.
Hemköp Solkatten immediately removed the chili from the shelves. Now the chili is back in the store again, but with an 18-year age limit. And since it was introduced, everything has been calm and pleasant both at Torpskolan and at the Solkatten store.
