The bus was on its way from the capital Lima to the border with Ecuador when it ran off the road for an unknown reason. According to the police, around 60 passengers were traveling on the bus, most of them Haitians.
Witnesses say several passengers managed to throw themselves off the bus before it went down the cliff. A large number of people have been taken to hospital.
