Burkina Faso launches mana mana operation for urban sanitation

In Burkina Faso, the government has launched the “mana-mana” operation in several towns to make the town clean. It is for the authorities of the transition to bring up to date a practice that was current during the Sankarist revolution and which consisted in mobilizing the populations around works of common interest, especially the sanitation of neighborhoods and cities.

With our correspondent in Ouagadougou, Yaya Boudani

In Ouagadougou, it was the head of government who launched the work, along with many members of the government. Shovels, rakes, brooms or wheelbarrows in their hands, residents proceeded for two hours to clean up a space transformed into public dumps, in the heart of the capital.

We want the Burkinabè to reconnect with this good practice to rid our environment of its many wastes. More than ever, the urgency of carrying out this operation is essential because, today more than yesterday, population growth has been accompanied by a significant production of waste. “, underlines Albert Ouédraogo, the head of government.

For the occasion, Sylvie Kanko, vice-president of the Movement of reflection and action for Faso, mobilized her comrades. She intends to continue the action in the days to come: We will target public places where there are a lot of people. Not only do we raise awareness, but we are in action at the same time. I believe that it is only at this price that we can win in this battle. »

According to the government, “operation mana-mana” will take place every last Saturday of the month. Karidiatou Dao wishes that each family do the same once a week, for the well-being of all: “ It would be good if each of us, as citizens, could do it, every Saturday, at home, at home “.
