A man in his 30s is charged with murder after a violent burglary in Halmstad in July. He is suspected of having abused the 94-year-old home owner so badly that he later died in hospital, writes Hallandsposten.
It was when the older man tried to get the intruder to leave that the younger man attacked.
The 94-year-old suffered several serious injuries after being pulled to the floor. It is about rib fractures, bruises on the neck, arms and legs and damage to one lung. As a result, the man contracted pneumonia. Just over three weeks after the break-in, he died in hospital.
The suspected perpetrator is charged primarily with murder, and secondarily with extremely serious assault and causing the death of another, according to SVT Halland. The man has previously served sentences for drug smuggling, theft and illegal threats.
