Along with Henrique, Edmonton also acquired forward Sam Carrick, goaltender Ty Taylor and a 2024 seventh-round pick from Anaheim in exchange for the Oilers’ 2024 first-round pick and a conditional fifth-round pick.

The Tampa Bay Lightning were also involved in the deal as they received a 2025 fourth-round pick from the Oilers in return for retaining salary. The Ducks are retaining 50 per cent of Henrique and Carrick’s cap hits while the Lightning retain an additional 25 per cent of Henrique’s salary.

Henrique has 18 goals and 24 assists in 60 games this season. The 34-year-old has played 14 years in the NHL scoring 257 goals and 264 assists for 521 points in 890 games.

Originally selected in the third round (82nd overall) of the 2008 NHL draft by New Jersey, Henrique also played for the Devils.

A two-time Memorial Cup champion with the Windsor Spitfires in 2009 and 2010, Henrique is a Brantford Minor Hockey Association graduate. His No. 14 was retired by Windsor in 2014.

He is in the final season of a five-year $29,125-million contract and will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
