The ChristenUnie became the largest party in Bunschoten in the municipal elections in March. However, the game was sidelined. The ChristenUnie was part of the municipal council for seventy years, until the coalition with the VVD collapsed in 2019. According to the VVD, the ChristenUnie was not open to administrative innovation, among other things.
