Bungie personally banned him for being too critical

German streamer Luis, formerly known as “Lachegga”, is the largest German-speaking streamer on Twitch about Destiny 2. He constantly criticizes the game and makes fun of Bungie’s decisions. Now he says: Bungie banned him on 2 accounts. He has a few theories as to how that happened. Apparently he was too critical of Bungie’s Community Manager.

Is this the biggest Destiny streamer?

  • Yes indeed. The German twitch scene for Destiny 2 has thinned out so much over the years that someone who doesn’t take good care of Destiny 2 is now the largest twitch streamer for Destiny 2.
  • For a long time, the Swiss streamer NexxossGaming was the largest German-language content creator for Destiny 2: In 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2022, it was the top performer on Twitch when sorted by viewer hours. But in the last 365 days Luis has overtaken him.
  • Although Luis only averages 150 viewers when he shows Destiny 2, he is still number 1. Because he was on the air for 1337 hours, while Nexoss-Gaming only streamed 556 hours, albeit with around 250 viewers.

Twitch streamer believes: German community manager banned him

That’s what Luis says: Luis says he was banned from Destiny 2 on July 1st with his main account. He was able to continue playing privately with the second account, but after streaming on Twitch with the second account, this account was also banned after 1 hour:

“Guys, we’ve all been wondering when it’s finally going to happen. We said months ago that it was only a matter of time before Bungie started removing historically uncomfortable voices from the community through bans.”

A third account, with which he plays away from Twitch, is still at large.

He believes the German community manager “personally” banned him and has a few theories to back it up:

  • Luis explains that there is a Discord group where the community manager is, who has “warned” people to stay away from him. A major content creator told him that.
  • A fake account wrote him malicious comments under older videos on YouTube on July 3. At the time, nobody knew that he was banned because he hadn’t even told his closest friends about it. Luis says: The comments appeared just hours after he wrote to the German community manager:
  • These comments are said to be related to the German community manager for Destiny 2, Luis believes.
  • A Twitch clip appeared on his channel, which he believes served as proof that he had a second account, which was then also banned. The actually boring clip only has 10 views because it was shared in the Discord
  • Streamer demands preferential treatment

What does he wish for? The streamer seems particularly annoyed that he does not get the payment from Bungie that he believes he deserves.

Because Bungie has not yet answered his request for a ban, he has been trying to reach the German community manager for a week.

Because there was no answer that he can share with his community, he would now speculate publicly about the reasons for the ban:

To put that in perspective: That one of the most active German content creators, who has been active on Twitch for 7 years – no matter what state the game is in – pulls at least 100, around 150 viewers on a normal day, while the rest is like 20, 30. Over 200 on good days, 700 on special events over a week with no response.

Bungie bans neither cheaters nor account sharers, but critics

This is his theory: The Twitch streamer, formerly known as Lachegga, then gives a number of examples of how bad Destiny 2’s ban policy is.

So it is said that even convicted sex criminals and permanent cheaters would not be banned. You can do the worst, nothing will happen to you. He cites Kimdotcom as an example. According to Luis, everyone with a rating of more than 2,000 has played his account – and everyone also knows that Kim Schmitz does massive account sharing. But it doesn’t bother anyone.

But critics of the game would regularly be banned. Bungie wouldn’t play by their own rules, instead banning anyone they “don’t like.”

What does he not address? He can’t really explain why Luis was banned now of all times when he’s been earning his money making fun of Bungie, Destiny and “Destiny Renter” for years.

He pops up a few tweets in which he passively-aggressively reproached Bungie for how weak the game was and asked if they weren’t embarrassed.

But there really isn’t anything that he hasn’t been doing in one way or another for years.

One possibility why he was banned now is that Bungie is now cracking down on the community manager harassment scandals and removing toxic members from the community.

It would then also not be possible to explain why no one communicates this to him so clearly. And why a German community manager behaves like a twelve-year-old and writes childish “Ätschibätschi” comments is also strange.

Nobody knows why this man could be banned:

Luis – the Destiny content creator for everyone Destiny annoys

What’s next? Luis has announced that he will appeal and is asking his supporters for financial help. As you can see from the video, some donations between 5 and 25 € have already been received.

In the commenters, Luis is praised for his “war on Bungie”, he is one of the YouTubers who expressed criticism of Bungie and Destiny and is therefore supported. The money is better invested in him than in a season pass anyway.

This is behind it: Anyone who follows Luis/Lachegga’s content will notice that it’s a kind of “hate gaming”: The videos deal a lot with how a game that used to be so great can go down the drain and become so terrible.

This type of content has a long tradition in Germany: GerThunderlord was also known for this type of procurement with Destiny (via youtube).

Luis often presents his criticism in a caustic, sarcastic manner and often strikes a tone that can be hurtful. He comes across as casual to bored, but he can also jump out of his skin at times.

To be fair, he’s also a strong PvP player, and at events he tries to explain ambiguities to his viewers that Destiny 2 regularly has.

His community happily agrees with the ongoing criticism of Bungie, and is united in general amusement at how disappointing and goofy Bungie is, and how dumb the players who continue to play it.

Why does he play it so much if he thinks it’s so stupid? Apparently Luis is like many: there is still a glimmer of the old love and there is simply no alternative. Also, he’s good at PvP and people want to watch him.

The impression arises that Luis is doing Destiny because it is still doing best on his channel and he is one of the few who is still doing anything about Destiny 2 in Germany. When he’s playing Valorant or Overwatch 2, he has significantly fewer viewers.

I’m curious what the outcome of a possible lawsuit will be.

We last took a closer look at Luis on MeinMMO 2017, who was still called Lachegga at the time. Those were very different times:
