A 27-year-old soldier with the stage name “Anastasia Rose” works as a DJ on Twitch. This is now her undoing and she is accused of disobedience.
Who is Anastasia Rose? According to her own statements, the Twitch streamer comes from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and is active as a DJ on various social media channels.
Her channel has around 16,600 subscribers on YouTube, and even 146,910 followers on Twitch (as of December 10, 2022).
She works full-time as a nurse at the Bundeswehr Hospital in Berlin with the rank of Oberfeldwebel. However, she has not been on duty since April 2021 due to illness.
Because of her DJane activity on the Internet, Anastasia Rose now has a big problem: she is being charged.

What is the problem? On December 8, 2022, the Berlin Public Prosecutor’s Office published a press release entitled “Career soldier as a DJane? – Charges for insubordination” (via berlin.de).
It states that the 27-year-old worked as a DJane, even though she was on sick leave and was also forbidden to work part-time. Therefore, the public prosecutor’s office in Berlin brought charges to the Tiergarten district court for 23 cases of insubordination.
Military Criminal Law – § 20 insubordination
(1) A penalty of up to three years imprisonment shall be imposed
(2) If the perpetrator refuses to obey an order that is not to be carried out immediately in the cases referred to in subsection (1), no. 1, but he obeys it in good time and voluntarily, the court may dispense with punishment.

As a DJ, Anastasia Rose sold merchandise such as perfume and clothing and produced several music videos in addition to her artistic work. Since July 20, 2021, she had been ordered a total of 10 times by the captain in charge to stop secondary employment.
Despite this, Anastasia Rose is said to have performed live and in the online live stream 23 times as a DJane in the period from August 7, 2021 to June 8, 2022.
How does Anastasia react to this? According to the Nordkurier, Anastasia Rose reportedly commented on the allegations and the media reports on her Twitch channel on the evening of December 9, 2022, sometimes in tears:
She never saw her performances as a sideline. In addition, she would not get any money for the performances and would not act as an organizer. She sees her work as purely artistic and would not have actually disclosed her job in the Bundeswehr to the public.
She also spoke in the stream about her training in the Bundeswehr, refusing to obey orders and sick leave. She described her experiences as a nurse during the corona pandemic, which she probably found burdensome. She also stated that she was not a professional soldier, but that she was doing the job “on a temporary basis” and that she wanted to leave the Bundeswehr.
