Children who sought support from the anti-bullying organization Friends have had their information sent to Tiktok. This shows an examination carried out by SR. – What has happened is simply that we made a mistake, says Lovisa Lönnebo, communications manager, Friends to SR. Friends works with support and counseling for children who are exposed to bullying and racism. Children are encouraged, among other things, to contact the organization via their website, where they can fill in a form, ask questions and tell what they have been exposed to. But the information provided on the website did not stop there, but was shared with the Chinese social media app Tiktok, according to SR. Tiktok was not allowed to share the content of the form, but was informed that the form had been submitted and the author’s email and phone number. Apologizes After the review, Friends have turned off the transfers to Tiktok and reported themselves to the Privacy Protection Authority. – What has happened is simply that we made a mistake and we have to take responsibility for that and really apologize for it and make sure that we have routines for this in the future, says Lovisa Lönnebo, communications manager, Friends. In the report, Friends states, among other things, that the transfers have been going on since last summer and that they have shared over 3,700 people’s contact information with Tiktok. According to SR, Tiktok has not answered the question about what happened to the data.
