The Bulgarian government decided to send weapons to Ukraine. Here are the details of the news…
The Government Press Center stated that the decision announced today was taken on June 23 and that the supply of weapons to Ukraine will not adversely affect the defense power and capacity of Bulgaria.
The government, which did not provide information on the types of weapons to be delivered to Ukraine, announced that the second shipment will be similar to the first shipment on 22 December 2022.
Defense Minister Todor Tagarev stated that there are still usable ammunition produced 30 years ago in the ammunition depots of the armed forces and that if they are not supplied, they will have to be destroyed soon.
The opposition pro-Russian Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) and the populist racist “Vızrajdane” (Rebirth) party prevented the sending of weapons to Ukraine until the parliament’s decision in this direction on December 9, 2022.
President Rumen Radev, who said “Crimea belongs to Russia” and sided with Russia, sabotaged the vote for sending weapons to Ukraine for two years. Believing that Russia will win the war, Radev argues that sending weapons to Ukraine will only prolong the conflict.
The new pro-European Union and pro-NATO coalition government, which received a vote of confidence in the parliament on 6 June, blocked the initiatives of Radev and the Moscow supporter parties in the parliament. (AA)
