Bugatti W16 Mistral, which will be the last member of the W16 legend that changed automotive history, will be separated from other members of the family with important revisions.
Today, with the brands that inevitably enter the electrification process, we have to say goodbye to many things we are used to seeing on the streets. While this is sometimes directly model-based in the focus of the new product range, it sometimes comes up on the engines under the hood. W16 was included in these farewells, which we have seen recently through V12 and atmospheric engines, this time via Bugatti. Bugatti W16 Mistral, which was introduced as part of Monterey Week in the USA, will be recorded as the last car in which the cult engine architecture, which has been in our lives since 2005, has been used.

Bugatti W16 Mistral will be the most aerodynamic model in the series
Changing the balances in the automotive world since the first day it went out on the street with the Veyron, the W16 always appeared in the center, even though the products changed in the process. The 8-liter machine, which comes with four turbochargers, saw the limits of 1,185 horsepower and 1,250 Nm of torque with the Super Sport in the Veyron product range. Seeing the speed values of 431 km / h with these values, Bugatti almost turned the records upside down. The W16 engine, which was brought to the level that produces 1,479 horsepower and 1,600 Nm of torque with the Chiron, which took over the crown after the Veyron, saw its peak of 1,600 PS with the Chiron Super Sport. This time, Bugatti made its name in history with its speed values such as 440 km / h that forced the imagination.

The last car to carry the W16, which leaves a unique legacy behind it, will be a Roadster. With this body type, which will be the first among the versions developed on the Chiron, the unique changes of Mistral draw attention. As in the Chiron Super Sport, the maximum speed that the car can reach is 420 km / h, which will land on the asphalt with 1,600 PS of power and 1,600 Nm of torque. With this value, Bugatti also claims to take back the crown of the world’s fastest model on the Roadster side. For Mistral, which was developed on a carbon fiber monocoque chassis, we see that Bugatti went through a difficult revision process starting from the A-pillar in order to apply Roadster dynamics. Along with the additional touches on the body, a template is waiting for the users, in which the most aerodynamic profile produced.
At this point, it is definitely remarkable that the oil cooling inlets in the car are designed separately from the engine cooling inlets. In addition to the aerodynamic changes, the design details also carry very important messages. In this context, the quad strip module in the main lighting group emphasizes the four turbos in the engine and the four-wheel power transmission capability of the vehicle. The lighting group, which comes in the form of an “X” at the back, is a complementary design form for the functionality between the ventilation channels on the side and the radiators. We see that the entrances located at the head level of the driver and passenger seats were designed with the priority of functionality on the safety side from the very first moment of the development process of the car. This structure, which is made of carbon fiber alloy material and extends to the rear, draws attention with its ability to carry the entire weight of the vehicle in a possible rollover accident. The yellow-black color combination preferred in the cockpit is a reference to the era preferred by Ettore Bugatti in his own personal vehicles. In order to get together with the Bugatti Mistral, which is announced to be produced only 99 units in total, a “love price” of 5 million euros has to be paid. The fact that all of the vehicles have already been sold is as remarkable as the technical data. We will see the first examples of Mistral on the streets in 2024.
