Brynäs have put themselves in a golden position to get back to the SHL. The Gävle team traveled to Stockholm with 2-0 in matches and on Sunday they turned around and also won match three.
Wiktor Nilsson’s match ended after twelve seconds of play. The Djurgårds forward made a late and high tackle on Simon Bertilsson and received a match penalty for it.
– There is no defense for that one, said TV4’s expert, Fredrik Söderström in the broadcast.
However, Djurgården cleaned up the game in a numerical disadvantage in an impressive way, and when the home team then got the chance in the power play, Linus Klasen held on to a rebound and bumped in the lead goal for Djurgården.
In the second period, four straight goals followed from the guests. Oliver Tärnström equalized after combining with Jack Kopacka. The lead goal was put in by Jordie Benn after he was served an almost open goal by Johan Larsson.
Brynäs steamed on from there and were effective when the opportunities arose. Noel Nordh made it 3-1 just 90 seconds after Benn’s goal and Tyler Vesel made it 4-1 barely three minutes later.
Djurgården made a late push in the hunt for an equalizer after Theo Lindstein first put it 5-1. Anton Gradin cut short later and with four minutes to play Viktor Andrén poked for six-man play for Djurgården. Then Damian Clara had to capitulate again. Ludvig Rensfeldt got the 3-5 puck there.
But when Djurgården picked up Andrén again, they couldn’t get the puck in the offensive zone and Tyler Vesel scored 6-3 in an open cage.
– We have a great second period and I am very pleased with the character we show, said Niklas Gällstedt after the match.
