Ahead of Tuesday’s restart of SHL, Brynäs was tangled best newcomer ever in SHL. The Gävle team had played 83 points, as many points as Leksand had the 2013-14 season. What was needed was thus a point to pinch the record.
When visiting Malmö Redhawks on away ice cream, the home team took the lead through Robin Salo after five minutes and 31 seconds – but then Blixfvend Brynäs with three goals in 82 seconds (!).
Michal Svrcek acknowledged at 05:49 on the match clock. After 06:45, Johan Larsson gave Brynäs the lead. Then, after 07:11, the series leader had extended to 3-1 through Anton Rödin.
After the second period ended, Jakob Silfverberg then determined the final score 4-1 at the end of the third period.
Best ever
With the three points that the 4-1 victory carried with him, Brynäs is now the best newcomer ever in SHL. You have now played 86 points – and still have eleven matches left to play the basic series. In addition, you lead the league with twelve points margin down to the second Färjestad.
– I think it is important not to look too far ahead. It really is clumsy to take one match at a time. Then it is important to sharpen special teams on both workouts and matches. Wear on six against five and five against six. It really is important to do it. But as a player, I don’t think it makes any use to look too far ahead, says Jakob Silfverberg in TV4’s broadcast.
