This weekend it was windy in several parts of Sweden. In Härjedalen, a wind turbine blew over. In Ånge, a turbine blade broke.
– It is unusual for this to happen, says Marcus Dunér, communications manager at RES Renewable Norden.
No one was injured and the area is cordoned off. Now the company must investigate what may have caused the incident on the 85-meter-long wing.
Completed in 2023
At Björnberget in Ånge municipality, RES Renewable Norden has 60 wind turbines. Construction of the park began in 2021 and was completed in 2023. According to Dagens industi the park had Sweden’s highest wind turbine in 2022.
Could it be extra vulnerable given how tall it is?
– It must be able to be exposed to the elements, it is very rare that this kind of thing happens, says Marcus Dunér.
