Broken Baltic cable repaired

It was during last week that it emerged that two underwater cables had been damaged in the Baltic Sea, one between Finland and Germany, the other between Sweden and Lithuania. At the moment, the suspicions are directed at a Chinese ship, the Yi Peng 3, which is suspected of intentionally dragging its anchor 16 miles along the bottom of the Baltic Sea and thus destroying two data cables, according to the Wall Street Journal. The ship is said to have also made mysterious maneuvers over three other underwater cables between Denmark and Sweden. Sweden has sent a formal request to China to cooperate regarding the suspicions against the Chinese ship. We want to bring clarity to what happened and expect that China will participate in this, said Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson at a press conference on Thursday. The incident is being investigated as suspected sabotage.
