Brochures are sent to Swedish households – from 18 November

Brochures are sent to Swedish households from 18 November

During Tuesday, October 8, the Swedish Agency for Community Safety and Preparedness (MSB) announced that a new brochure will be sent out. This leaflet will replace the old leaflet called “If the crisis or the war comes”.

The new brochure will go by the same name but is an updated version of the one from 2018. According to MSB, it required an update as the security situation in Sweden has deteriorated.

DON’T MISS: The police’s sharp call: “Don’t trust anyone who…”

News24 have come into contact with Christina Andersson who is the project manager for the brochure.

– Security in our surrounding world has deteriorated significantly since the previous brochure was issued in 2018. We have war in our immediate area and we are exposed to recurring cyber attacks and influence campaigns that want to harm and divide us in order to reduce our resilience.

Greater focus on war: “The security situation is now the most serious since World War II”

Unlike the 2018 brochure, this version will have a greater focus on war.

– Already in 2018, when we sent out the previous brochure, we addressed our preparedness for war, which we had not done for many, many years. At the time, Russia had annexed Crimea a few years earlier, which created anxiety in the outside world, says Andersson, and continues:

– The assessment is that the security situation is now the most serious since the Second World War. Against this background, we have a greater focus on our preparedness for war in the new brochure.

The brochure will begin to be sent out on November 18 and the mailing will continue during week 47 and the following week. The new brochure should reach all households in Sweden, MSB writes on its website.

For those who want to take a look now, it is already available digitally on the authority’s website.

“It is important to read it, follow the advice and save it,” says Charlotte Petri Gornitzkadirector general at MSB, in a press release.

The new brochure will not only be available in Swedish, but also in English, Arabic, Persian/Farsi, Ukrainian, Polish, Somali, Finnish, Meänkieli, Romani Arli, Northern Sami and Southern Sami.

– We live in an anxious and unpredictable time and we need to increase our risk awareness and strengthen our resilience together. Everyone who lives in Sweden is part of our preparedness, says Andersson to Nyheter24.

– We hope that the brochure contributes to increasing people’s own safety and preparedness, by taking on board the concrete advice, for example to get a good home preparedness, but also that you use the brochure as a concrete support to know what to do do when something serious happens, regardless of whether it is about evacuating an affected area or stopping serious bleeding, says Andersson and continues:

DON’T MISS: Dyrgripen is worth 21,200 – do you have this mobile phone?

– We also hope that it gives insight that no one is alone in this, we do this together, everyone who lives in Sweden and the whole society.
