According to the British government, Russia exported $4 billion worth of diamonds in 2021. The import bans are expected to come into effect when new legislation is hammered out later this year.
The British government also imposes sanctions on 86 individuals and companies. They have links to the Russian defense industry and areas such as energy, metals and shipping.
