Britain apologizes to victims of Grenfell tower block fire

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has issued an apology on behalf of the state to the victims of the Grenfell tower block fire. According to Starmer, the fire should never have happened.

In 2017, the Grenfell tower block fire in London killed 72 people. The fire spread quickly because the materials used in the outer wall of the tower block were fire-sensitive.

According to the accident report published today, no single cause was found for the fire, but decades of neglect by governments and authorities and the dishonesty of construction companies contributed to it.

The police have so far not filed charges in the case, but plan to review the results of the report.
