Birgitte Bardot, 88, suffered breathing difficulties at her home in Saint Tropez as a result of the heat.
She was given oxygen by the emergency services.
Emergency services were called to Brigitte Bardot’s home in a warm Saint Tropez on Wednesday after the French actor and animal rights activist had breathing difficulties, several French media reports.
– It was at nine o’clock that Brigitte had difficulty breathing. It was worse than normal but she didn’t pass out, the emergency services came and gave her oxygen and then stayed to monitor her for a while, her husband Bernard d’Ormale told the local newspaper Var Matin.
According to the husband, the high temperatures currently sweeping Europe are a contributing factor.
Brigette Bardot, now 88 years old, is one of the most famous sex symbols of all time and remains an icon in French cinema, some 50 years after her retirement from the industry.
Since then, she has become involved in animal activism and has lived a relatively reclusive life. She spoke out earlier this week about actress and singer Jane Birkin, who died this weekend at the age of 76.
