The wheelbase bridge on national highway 55 south of Enköping is stuck in the folded position, Expressen reports.
All traffic is stopped in both directions and diverted via E18 or national highway 56.
The police were alerted just before seven in the morning and suspect that the bridge has been sealed.
There is still no forecast for when the bridge can be reopened.
