In the UK, the Windsor Framework had gone through rapid approval by a large majority from the House of Commons, through a single vote on a technical aspect of the agreement. A total of 29 MPs oppose the agreement, six Northern Irish unionists from the dup present in Westminster, as well as an independent and 22 dissenting Conservatives, including former premiers Boris Johnson and Liz Truss.
According to the unionists of Belfast despite the “substantial progress” made with the modification of the Protocol, the agreement reached “does not address the fundamental issue, i.e. thethe imposition of EU law” on Northern Ireland.
