The dates of the 2023 college patent correspond precisely to the Monday 26 and Tuesday 27 June (more details here). It should be noted that replacement tests are provided for students who could not attend their DNB (National Patent Diploma) tests for a case of force majeure (medical reason, for example).

A slightly lower success rate

According to the results published by the National Education on July 11, 2022, the success rate of the latest college patent to date stands at 87.5% (excluding Guyana) of the 830,000 college students who sat for the exam. A rate showing a slight drop of 0.6 points compared to 2021. The previous year, the DNB success rate had fallen by 2.4 points, to 88%. And in 2020, a year greatly disrupted by the Covid where the college patent had been 100% passed in continuous assessment, the success rate had risen to 90.5%. A patent success rate which was also 86.5% in 2019, 87.1% in 2018, and 89% in 2017.

In 2022, nearly one in four DNB candidates won the mention Very good (24.4%), also specified the ministry. 22% of middle school students who took the test came out with a mention Bien; 20.7% with a Fairly good mention and 20.4% without mention. In detail, 88.7% of candidates in the general series graduated from the patent (-0.4 points compared to 2021), versus a success rate of 76.4% for the professional series (-1. 9 point).

Common to all candidates, the written examinations for the college certificate are scheduled for Monday 26 and Tuesday 27 June 2023 for the normal session. The replacement session is scheduled for Monday 18 and Tuesday 19 September 2023. It should also be noted that the modern foreign language test, reserved for individual candidates, will take place on Tuesday 27 June 2023 (afternoon) for the normal session. and Tuesday, September 19, 2023 (afternoon) for the replacement session.

The college certificate takes place over two days at the end of June each year, unlike the final written and oral exams for the baccalaureate, which take place over several weeks in June.

The patent is scored out of 800 points in total, combining continuous monitoring and end-of-year tests. You need a minimum of 400 points to earn the diploma.

Continuous monitoring is taken into account in the marking, including projects carried out in class, like the EPI (Practical Interdisciplinary Teaching). The evaluation of the common base is done on eight skills, each evaluated in the school report through four levels of points:

• 10 dots for “insufficient” control
• 25 dots for a “fragile” mastery
• 40 dots for a “satisfactory” job
• 50 dots for a “very good” mastery

The final rounds of the college patent therefore represent “only” half of the total patent scale each year, scored out of 400 points. As a reminder, there are five: the four writings of French, mathematics, history-geography / moral and civic education and sciences, as well as an oral test. This consists of a 15-minute presentation divided into two parts: a 5-minute presentation of a project worked on during the year and a 10-minute interview with the jury.
