Breastfeeding benches installed in Paris to invite mothers to breastfeed

Many mothers are criticized or judged when they breastfeed in public. To promote breastfeeding and the use of the breast pump in the street, according to baby’s needs, the Elvie brand is installing a bench dedicated to breastfeeding mothers in 4 Parisian locations, on June 19 and 20, 2023.

Breastfeed in public has always been natural and recommended by WHO. However, even today, 17% of women claim to have been “openly criticized” or “victims of prejudice”* by breastfeeding their baby in a public place. Various facts have in particular sparked controversy in recent years: a woman had indeed been banned from breastfeeding at the Louvre Museum in June 2022, while another had been slapped by a woman in Bordeaux the previous year. The objective of these benches is therefore above all to normalize breastfeeding in publicand allow women to feel comfortable breastfeed whenever and wherever they want.
