The US Geological Survey (USGS) announced that the epicenter of the 6.5 magnitude earthquake was approximately 110 kilometers southeast of the city of Kimbe on New Britain Island.
According to initial reports, there was no loss of life or property in the earthquake, which occurred at a depth of approximately 49 kilometers.
