Breaking news: Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan held a joint press conference with Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi. Minister Fidan announced the critical decision taken by Turkey in his speech here.
“WE DECIDED TO INTERVENE IN THE GENOCIDE CASE”
Minister Fidan said in his statement: “As Turkey, we have decided to intervene in the case (on genocide) filed by South Africa against Israel at the International Court of Justice.”
WHAT ARE SOUTH AFRICA’S CLAIMS?
According to AA, South Africa accuses Israel of violating the Genocide Convention in three ways. South Africa firstly stated that Israel, in its operations in Gaza, acted with genocidal intent to kill and cause serious physical or mental harm against the people of Gaza belonging to the same nation, race and religion, and that it deliberately destroyed the living conditions and physical existence of Gazans. He claims to have changed it.
Secondly, in South Africa’s 84-page application, it is stated that Israel failed to prevent genocide.
Finally, South Africa points out that Israel does not punish officials who incite genocide.
