Great destruction occurred after the 7.0 magnitude earthquake, whose epicenter occurred in Marrakech, Morocco, at around 23.10 on September 8. Regarding the earthquake in which thousands of people lost their lives, Moroccan Minister of Justice Abdüllatif Vehbi announced that many villages were completely destroyed.
According to the Moroccan press, Minister of Justice Vehbi stated on a local television channel via phone that some villages around the epicenter of the devastating earthquake were completely destroyed.
Vehbi pointed out that many old neighborhoods, some of which are historical, were seriously damaged in the city of Tarudant in the southwestern part of the country, and noted that the authorities were working to accommodate residents who could not return to their homes in the areas affected by the earthquake.
Emphasizing that their priority is to try to provide basic services, Vehbi stated that efforts to open the roads to the settlements around the city of Tarudant, which were closed due to the earthquake, are continuing.
THE NUMBER OF DEAD AND INJURED IS INCREASING
On the other hand, the number of people who lost their lives in the earthquake increased to 2122 and the number of injured increased to 2421.
MOROCCO 7 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE
A magnitude 7 earthquake occurred in Morocco on September 8 at 23.10 local time, with the epicenter in the Al-Huz region of Marrakech.
It was stated that the earthquake also affected the cities of Casablanca, Meknes, Agadir and Fes, especially the capital Rabat.
