Eighteen people were killed when a plane skidded off the runway and crashed during takeoff in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu.
According to a report in The Kathmandu Post, a plane carrying 19 people skidded and crashed during take-off at the Tribhuvan International Airport.
Tribhuvan International Airport Spokesperson Subash Jha said in a statement that the bodies of 18 people on the Saurya Airline plane were found and the pilot was taken to the hospital.
Eyewitnesses told The Kathmandu Post that the plane took off from the southern part of the runway and suddenly flipped over after its wingtip hit the ground.
