ROCKETS FIRED FROM SOUTH OF LEBANON AT HAIFA
A series of rockets were fired from southern Lebanon around the Israeli city of Haifa. The rockets were intercepted by the Israeli “Iron Dome” air defense system.
“THE BLOODIEST DAY WE’VE EVER LIVED”
Lebanese Health Minister Firas al-Abyad said that today’s attacks by Israel have caused the country to experience its “bloodiest day” since the 1975-1990 civil war.
Making a press statement regarding the Israeli attacks, Ebyad stated that the country had seen the highest number of casualties in a single day since the civil war.
274 PEOPLE LOST THEIR LIVES
Noting that 274 people, including 24 children and 39 women, lost their lives in Israel’s attacks today, Ebyad said that 1,024 people were injured.
The Lebanese Minister also reported that approximately 10,000 people were injured in the 33-day war between Israel and Hezbollah in 2006, and that the number of those injured in Israel’s attacks in the last week was close to 5,100.
The Israeli army has launched hundreds of airstrikes on Lebanon’s southern cities, as well as the Bekaa and Baalbek regions, since the morning hours.
TENS OF THOUSANDS OF CIVILIANS ARE MIGRATION
The wave of migration from the southern regions of the country to the capital Beirut and the northern regions continues. The Lebanese Ministry of Education announced that education has been suspended throughout the country, while the Ministry of Interior announced that schools in the south of the country have been opened to accommodate citizens displaced by Israeli attacks.
According to Lebanese media, tens of thousands of people from the south of the country are migrating towards the capital Beirut and the northern regions.
The Lebanese, who had to leave their homes due to the Israeli army’s airstrikes that have been ongoing since the morning hours, stayed in their vehicles due to the heavy traffic on the roads.
The Israeli army has targeted hospitals, ambulances and health centres in attacks in southern Lebanon.
