Breaking news: The Ministry of Health made a statement after the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a global public health emergency for the second time in two years due to the monkeypox virus spreading from the Democratic Republic of the Congo to neighboring countries.
The ministry’s statement included the following statements:
“Following the Emergency Committee Meeting held by the World Health Organization on 14 August 2024, it was declared that M pox disease constitutes a public health emergency of international concern.
The M pox disease case, which is particularly seen in the African continent, has not been encountered in Turkey in 2024. There is no need for any restrictions or additional measures in our country yet.
Necessary studies are being carried out by our Ministry, and the process is being followed meticulously by our scientific board and health infrastructure.
“Up-to-date information will be made available to the public.”
