Kim Kardashian, Cardi B… Many of them have succumbed to the “Brazilian Butt Lift” or BBL, consisting of an increase in the volume of the buttocks by lipofilling. But what exactly is this operation? What are the risks of the Brazilian Butt Lift? Answers.

If the reasons leading to this operation diverge (to make a complex disappear, to please its subscribers on social networks…), the objective of the followers of the “Brazilian Butt Lift” or “BBL” remains the same: to obtain XXL buttocks , with a disproportionate volume. But if the curve is there, the intervention, which costs thousands of euros, is not without risk.

    10,000 euros must be disbursed

There are many fans of this surgery. Every year, they are tens of thousands of Americans to push the door of a cabinet to undergo a “Brazilian Butt Lift”, or “BBL”.

This is a buttocks lipofilling. The surgeon will draw fat around the buttocks, but also on the flanks, the saddlebags or the inner thighs, then re-inject it into the upper outer part of the buttocks. The goal? Bring curve to the buttocks“, says Dr. Picovski.

An operation that has been all the rage around the world and especially in Miami, where hundreds of clinics each year welcome these patients who want “XXL buttocks” – and this, at any price.

In the report “7 to 8” on TF1, a young woman by the name of Viviana, thus sold nearly 10,000 euros to the surgeon for this intervention… to say the least painful. Several weeks after the procedure, sitting down is still difficult.

As my mother says, you have to suffer to be beautiful“, she confides to the camera.

    Clinics with sometimes questionable practices

If the increase in the volume of the buttocks by lipofilling is especially appreciated for its natural side – because the fat used to reshape comes from the patient’s body – all the operations do not necessarily go well.

In Florida alone, nearly 25 patients have died following a “BBL” procedure.

Some clinics, offering attractive prices, would seem to skimp on the staff – poorly qualified – and the reception conditions (poor sterilization, etc.).

In addition, as in any surgical procedure, there are risks of complications: thromboembolic accidents, bleeding, hematomas and lymphatic effusions, modification of sensitivity, infections, etc.

These are the classic surgical risks” says Dr. Picovski. “In other words, the main danger is the risk of infection. If the surgeon injects too much fat, it can also become necrotic and form oily cysts in the buttocks. The last complication is fat embolism. It occurs when the fat is injected into the deep bloodstream, not the superficial tissues“.
