The police in Västra Götaland warn of fraud against the elderly in the Skövde area. During Friday, several alarms came in from residences where elderly people had been cheated of valuable items by people who claimed to be police officers. – When someone claims to be a police officer, you can check by calling 114 14, says Fredrik Svedemyr, press spokesperson for police region West. The first alarm came from Hentorp, where a woman born in 1928 lost her gold jewelry. During the day, she had received a call from someone who claimed to call and warn that there had been a burglary in the area. They want to send a person to check that she is not missing anything. A younger man arrives at her home and he takes with him several pieces of gold jewelry from the place. New alarm An hour later, another alarm comes from another resident in Skövde. A relative of a woman born -26 living at Dälderna receives a phone call from the home service. They state that the woman told them that she had “two civilian police officers” visiting. The “policemen” say that she was robbed of SEK 10,000 from her account and they were there to help with this. The last alarm came at 18.30 from a nursing home in Billingen. Two men are said to have visited the nursing home and stated that they are police officers and entered a woman born in 1929 and took her jewellery. – When it comes to valuables, they should not be kept visible or easily accessible in the home and preferably no large amounts of cash, says Fredrik Svedemyr, press officer for police region West. No people have been arrested and the police are now warning that more frauds of this type may take place over the weekend.
