Brantford woman wins top prize of $1M in lottery

After playing the lottery for about 10 years, Brantford’s Karen Carmichael hit a two-part winner, including $1 million, while playing the Instant Majestic lottery.

The retiree bought a game ticket and won $100, so she decided to play again.

“I was watching TV while scratching my ticket,” she said while picking up her money at the OLG Prize Center in Toronto.

“The last number I revealed was 13 and it matched my Lucky Number. I kept looking around the room and thought ‘I need to go to the store.’”

Carmichael called her best friend to share the exciting news and her friend was so thrilled and excited, Carmichael said the woman may have been “even happier than I was.”

The winner plans to buy a new vehicle, invest for her future and share the win with her children.

She bought her winning ticket at Circle K on Erie Avenue in Brantford.

Instant Majestic costs $10 a play and the top prize is $1 million.
