Brantford Police arrest suspect after two men shot on Sunday night

A 23-year-old Brampton man is in custody after two men were shot in Brantford on Sunday night, police say.

Officers were sent to a King Street address after receiving a call about a shooting. Upon arrival, officers, accompanied by Brant-Brantford paramedics, found two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds in a residence.

Paramedics transported both men to hospital where one remains in critical condition, police said.

Brantford police later arrested a suspect in the Sarah Street and Murray Street area without incident. The police emergency response team, patrol officers and a K-9 unit all participated in the investigation, police said.

The shooting is now being investigated by the detectives in the police criminal investigation section.

Police said a firearm believed to have been used in the shooting has been recovered.

No additional suspects are being sought at this time and police said the shooting is not believed to be a random incident.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing and is facing a number of charges including aggravated assault and firearm-related offenses.
