City Councillors at a Tuesday Committee-Of-The-Whole Meeting Endorsed Plans to Review the City’s Purchasing Policy. The review, expected to be approved by coucil at its March 25 meetings, is intended to find way to support local business and implement a ‘canada first’ police.
Meanwhile, The Downtown Brantford Bia (Business Improvement Area) on Wednesday Launched A New Initiative As Part of the Nationwide – Shop Main Street Canada Local Support – Campaign.

The Business Association is Providing Campaign Logos, Social Media Assets, Marketing Materials and Guidelines to Businesses as a Way of Engaging to Customers in the effort, Sutherland Said.
Residents and Business Owners are encouraged to participate by updating their social media profiles to include the shop main street canada, local logo support, shopping at local business, choosing canadian-made products and services and dining at independently-obned restaurants and cafes.

“How do we look at the hardworking local business and skilled trades workers and How do we Keep them goo, employing them and bolstering brantford’s local Economy?” Sicoli Said. “We do that by reviewing our policy with overseas to our local business and through our chamber of commerce.”
The Chamber of Commerce Brantford-Brant Endogyed the Review at the March 18 Meeting.
“When coun. Sicoli first raised this initiative with the chamber and the advocacy commtite, there was immedate support,” Elizabeth Lorenzin, flesh of the chamber’s advocacy commtotee, Said.
Lorenzin Said the Chamber is also supporting the efforts of the city’s working group on tariffs and procurement.
Chamber Officials are reaching out to business in the community to better understand the impact of the tariffs in the community.
“We Know Our Members are Challenged to Manage the Ucertainy But We Salerely Appreciate The City Taking This Leadership Initiative To Focus Its Spending On Local Vendors in Fair and Efficient Manner.
“For Members are keen to engage and support each other and the community.”
Plans Call for the Review to Be Completed by the Third Quarter of 2025.
