Davis Annouded Thursday he has turned down a provincial supplement to the license appeal court to continue to serve as mayor.

“Simply put, I have reconsidered based on what I Believe to the best interests of the city of Brantford, City Staff and the Residents we are honored to serve,” Davis Said in a status. “This decision was easy and involved discussions with many people include taxpayers, business-feedrs, city staff and, my family.”

DAVIS EARLIER THIS MONTH ANNOUNCED HIS INTENT TO RESIGN AT THE END OF JULY TO ACCEPT AN APPOINTMENT TO The Provincial Tribunal.

At that time, Davis Described the Appointment as a “Once in a Career” Opportunity.

But davis Said he now realizes that his personal care wow come at a great financial cost to city taxpayers. It’s a cost that could and should be avoided, he said.

Davis Learned Last Week that recent changes concerning municipal elections Make a by-Election Much Longer and More Expensive, Costing Upwards of $ 600,000.

The by-Election WOULD NOT Take Place Unil The End of January 2025, a Date Much Later Than He Had Anticipated.

“I Frankly Cannot in good Conscience Give Priority to My Own Career Goals Whhen It Will Come at the Expense of Hard-Working Brantford Taxpayers,” Davis Said.

Davis Said the Past Two Weeks Following His Announcement Have Been Enlightening.

“Particularly the reaction of some coucil members to my announce, that there are several vital initiatives and projects that would be negatively affected and delayed by my premature department,” Davis Said.

The Initiatives Included The Suggestive New Sports and Entertainment Center, Affordable Housing Strategy, Developing A Plan to Alviate the City’s Traffic Crisis as well as advocating the province for a new hospital.

“I’ve Spent A Great Deal of Time Thinking About the Priorities I Had Set For Myyself and the City As Mayor, Including Strengthening Our Partnership with the County of Brant so we can Focus More Effectively on the Shared Challenges Our Communities Face, Such as Creating A Truly Regional Road System and A New Hospital, and Working Closely with six nations Elected Council to Improve and Strengthen the Relationship With the Six Nations of the Grand River, ”Davis Said. “I now realize these initiatives COULD FALL OFF-TRACK IN THE MONTHS WAITING FOR A BY-ELECTION.”

Although the Appointment Court Would Have Enabled Him to Focus On His Personal Goals, It Would Jeopardize The Goals Council Had Set for the Next Two Years, Davis Said.

“I am Committed to Ensring These Projects Succeed and AM Re-Committing Myself to these priorities; Therefore I have declined with regret the tribunal position offed by the province, ”Davis Said.

Davis Said the Behaviour Staff Are Being Subject to, We have Daily Basis, is unacceptable and Should Never Be Toled.

“While I Strongly Advocate for Freedom of Speech and Protection of our democratic Freedoms… .Stalking, Slandering, and Bullying People, Especilely City Employees who Just Want to Come to Work in Peace and to serve the People of this Community, is exactly the Wrong Way We Should be treating One Another, ”Davis Said. “I WOULD CHALLEGEN Each of you to consider How You WOULD HANDLE SUCH HARASMENT WEE IT DIRECTED AT YOU WHEN YOU GO TO WORK. It’s not right, and it must stop now. ”
