Brantford mans disappearance now a homicide investigation

The case of a missing Brantford man has now become a homicide investigation.

Brantford Police announced early Wednesday evening that a post-mortem by the Office of the Coroner has identified a body – discovered May 3 in Brant County – to be that of Brayden Ferrall.

The 22-year-old Brantford man was reported missing to Brantford Police after last being seen by friends on February 18, 2022.

The case was assigned to the Criminal Investigation Section that, on March 28, said foul play was suspected in Ferrall’s disappearance.

On May 3, Brantford Police were notified that County of Brant OPP were looking into the discovery of a body in the vicinity of Campbell Road and Old Onondaga Road East.

“At the time of the discovery, police were unable to positively identify the deceased or determine the cause of death prior to the completion of a post-mortem examination,” said Robin Matthews-Osmond, communications manager for Brantford Police. “On Wednesday May 11, 2022 the Office of the Coroner identified the body to be that of Brayden Ferrall. The results of the post-mortem indicated that Ferrall was the victim of a homicide.”

The investigation is active and ongoing by the major crime unit of Brantford Police, and while details about the nature of the homicide will not be released at this time, police say it is not believed to be a random incident.

Matthews-Osmond said police are working closely with Ferrall’s family to provide support during this difficult time.

“During the missing person investigation, we have seen an outpouring of concern from many of Brayden’s friends and would like to remind those who may need assistance to contact Victim Services of Brant, as they can provide immediate support,” said Detective Constable Justin Torek.
