The $1,277,080 payout is part of just over $3 million that the city has received during OLG’s current fiscal year that runs from April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025. In total, the City of Brantford has received more than $105.1 million since the casino opened in November of 1999.

Payments are calculated using a formula and graduated scale of gaming revenue that applies to all gaming sites in Ontario, with host communities having collectively received over $2.2 billion in non-tax gaming revenue since 1994.

In nearby Woodstock, OLG made a third-quarter payment of $412,615 to the City of Woodstock, bringing the total to just over $1.2 million in OLG’s current fiscal year, and $28.1 million since Gateway Casinos Woodstock opened in 2001.

“Host communities across Ontario gain tangible benefits from jobs and economic activity fostered by land-based gaming in their community,” said Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming, in a media release. “In addition, OLG’s host payments fund critical infrastructure, parks and recreation facilities, and countless local programs and initiatives that help make our communities better places to live, work, and play.”

OLG reinvests 100 percent of its profits back into the province, generating about $62 billion since 1975 that support provincial government priorities such as health care, treatment and prevention programs for gambling addiction, and support for amateur athletes. Annual profits from OLG operations also support host communities, Ontario First Nations, local charities and lottery retailers.

Meantime, service providers have invested $2.5 billion over the past eight years that have resulted in the opening of seven new casinos, a large-scale resort development, gaming floor expansions, and new non-gaming amenities.
