“You could tell she was looking for her owner,” Gibson said about the dog.
“She would approach vehicles and when she saw it was not her owner, she would run away.”
Gibson followed the dog, hoping to lure her in with some food but she “would not stop running.”
Meanwhile, OPP is warning the public not to try and approach the dog but to contact them at 1-888-310-1122.
“Your help is crucial in ensuring everyone’s safety,” said Const. Andrew Gamble on social media.
Gibson said she’s been told by third parties that the dog was brought into a Concession 4 county business for safety at some point. Her male owner was located and came to pick up the animal when she bit someone at the business.
Gibson was told after the owner took the dog and left, it was spotted again loose, indicating it may have been dumped or somehow got away from the owner, who is reported to be from Hamilton.
“If someone spots her on their property and she’s returning there, we can set a trap and try to catch her,” Gibson said.
“They can call us about that but call the OPP first because it’s a health-risk due to someone being bit.”
Along with OPP and Hillside seeking the dog, police said GSR KW, a pet search agency, is also looking for the animal.
